Romantic getaways, mountain escapes, bush retreats and cultural and heritage discovery are now the order of the day thanks to the joint venture between Southern Sun Sunbreaks and the Sho’t Left campaign.
Value for Money
Southern Sun and South African Tourism launched an exciting new venture on 16 April 2008 aimed at providing good value for money travel packages. Targeted especially at the emerging traveler, it seeks to offer affordable accommodation options to encourage locals to begin exploring our country.
Holiday packages will be available from May in preparation for the June to July holiday season, which includes the traditional mid-year school break. Others will take in the September to December and January to March 2009 periods. These will offer deals such as long weekends where kids under the age of 12 can stay and eat for free at SunBreaks hotels and weekend away packages from R289 per person sharing.
Key Themes
Key to the joint venture are the Sho’t Left themes that include romantic getaways, mountain escapes, bush retreats and cultural and heritage discovery. ‘In order to deliver on this, Southern Sun SunBreaks will ensure that it aligns its hotel property that best suits the concept,’ says Lynette Esposito, Leisure Sales Manager Southern Sun.
But the main idea is to create awareness and excitement around the concept of local travel. ‘We live in one of the most beautiful places on the planet and we should make the effort to discover South Africa’s diverse landscapes, people, wildlife and flora,’ says Sindile Xulu, Country Manager SA Tourism. ‘Travel plays an integral role in helping us as South Africans understand and appreciate each other, and this will go a long way in ensuring that we become even better and more welcoming hosts leading up to and beyond the World Cup in 2010.’
